Marketing for Not for Profit Organizations: Simplified
Not-for-profit organizations (NFP) marketing has become increasingly more difficult for a few reasons. The decrease in funding from the public sector; the increase in competition for funds among an expanding number of not-for-profit organizations; and the rise in funder pressure for not-for-profits to operate in a “businesslike” manner.
It is imperative that NFP’s not lose sight of their mission, yet at the same time adopt marketing principles to achieve their goals. For example, segmenting “target markets” (funders, types of volunteers, etc.); develop strategic marketing plans; learn and use the tools of social media and last but not least, market to develop and nurture ‘relationships’.
SJS has not only the marketing expertise to help NFP’s succeed, but we are well grounded in the problems faced by NFP’s and how to solve the problems. We’ve been there ourselves.

Micki Thompson, Executive Director, Tampa Bay Cares
Joanie and Steve are just the professional marketing experts we needed at 2-1-1 TBC. I attended one of their excellent seminars on email marketing and knew immediately that with their help we could quickly organize all our mailing lists and simplify the marketing workload of our small nonprofit staff. They both are extremely responsive and enthusiastic about helping us get the word out about our organization. They offer strategic solutions that are very easy to implement. I highly recommend them for any non-profit organization that is looking to market not only their services to new and existing clients but also to market to new volunteers and donors.
